I came across a Facebook post from a friend today who referred to their New Year’s resolutions as goals. I quite liked this. I think we all resolve to change habits and adopt new ones, and I bet they don’t change that much from year to year. Personally, I feel the word resolution has an expiration date, whereas goals are something that you work toward, are attainable, and can be measured.
Although we are still a couple of days away from the big 2012, I have noticed some trends in goal setting, and it goes something like this:
1. Happiness is a choice, choose happiness over cold hard cash.
2. Surround yourself with positive influences in your life and ditch the negative ones at the curb.
3. Prioritize your time and spend more with family and friends rather than work.
I am an eternal optimist so of course I feel that humankind is finally understanding the importance of peace, love, and happiness.
I know there will still be the common goals like weight-loss, eating better, and exercising more. Make those a part of your daily priorities and focus on putting some love back in your heart and setting up healthy boundaries in your personal and professional life.
Here are a few sites/lists that made me ponder the importance of striving for goals that will truly make an impact in your life:
1. 30 things to stop doing to yourself
2. A nurse reveals the top 5 regrets people make on their deathbed
3. Seth’s Blog: “It’s always been this way”
What are your goals for 2012? Share them and let’s see what we can expect for 2012!
Happy 2012 to everyone! 2011 was a lot of work! Looking forward to creating, building, growing, evolving, enjoying, and loving everyone and every minute!
Peace out!
